oh wowzers
today was interesting indeed. during the lecture we learned about storyboards and compilation.
To sum the lecture up... the key points made were...
During todays tute we briefly went through our scripts to see how successfully deconstructed they were. mine sucked. straight up. i think i got as far as the colour coding part. i didnt really understand how to structure the camera angles and shots and shit. but i looked at everyone elses and it helped me.
we got a couple of pages from the movie "TENTACLE" and had to do a shot break down. pretty much just drawing key frames for the script. it was pretty challenging. trying to find the most powerful shots and how effectively they could be used. Heres what i came up with...
Twas puurty fun hey. i thought i did my story board wrong somehow, so googled other storyboards from movies... and i got some impressive outcomes...
nice to know my dodgey thumbnails werent too shotty after all! werd.

To sum the lecture up... the key points made were...
- Make composition less flat
- Use lower angles and remember to make sure characters aren’t parallel
to each other. Break things up! - Does your composition have a nice silhouette? Make sure things read clearly.
- Don’t cut off characters from the shot. If one is talking to the other, their whole heads should fit in the frame.
- Try not to have so many shots where lines directly parallel the edge of the frame.
- Avoid “dead space” in the frame composition. (eg. Too much sky in one shot)
- Use perspective to your advantage. Try get some depth into your comps! A lower horizon line really sets your characters into the composition.
- Be aware of how the eye flows around the comp, and what you want the eye drawn to.
