2009: MY OWN MINI FILM : WEEK 8

ok so after effortlessly not realising how time has so quickly passed by, i found myself in a mild panic, shitting my pants about how close i am to the end of my semester, and i cant afford to fail this subject yet again.

man up to the occasion lauren, 5 weeks to go to finish this film, you can do it!

i am going to aim at doing a scene per night / day at the moment. so hoping that if i manage to aim for this, ill finish all my shit on time.

*starts thinking about work load and starts to panic*

deep breaths.

here is the new animatic.

i would really like to cut some of this down even furthur.
damn my elaborate story board rubbish.

im thinking about what my teacher andi said... wait... andi you're the only one who reads this blog so ill just straight up tell you,

ive been thinking about what you said, and wrote up a whole sheet of stuff the other day to try to work my way around making the story flow more.

incorporating a few more elements like this.... in the bg...

perhaps the cockroach at the opening scene can trod over old newspaper that have
"neuclear rabbits evolve from toxic wasteland"
"scientists believe rabbits are developing intellectual skills"
"homes destroyed by rabbit plague"
"biohazzard: animals must be shot on sight"
"animals are developing human communication patterns"

shit like that. so people go. oh. ok. and expect a giant rabbit to pop up somewhere.

i've eliminated a fuckload of shots too. but need to cut out more i feel.

[Week 11] ANIMATIN PROJECT - PRE PROD STUFF: PART 2

so.
after muchos thinking and reflecting i thought i mite branch out [that mite be a good thing or a bad thing] and have a bash at doing some storyboarding shiz.
i know paul and amanda have totally got it all down pat.

BUT. i was pondering, how it would go if there was a fight scene in there between russel + norton.

i know the plan was to just have them cruise down an alley and sparks and stars and dustclouds go flying and woolah. a red roasted big bird.
but i thought, what the heck, ill do a little something for show.
i thought about these things...below... to get a good look for our rabies infected russel. booyah.

*jaws theme plays in background* ZOMBIE RABBIT!

i was trying to think. 'alternative shots' 'comic style storyboard' 'effective angles' 'capture the moment' and so on.

thought these pics were pretty effective for a battle scene...

*drumroll* hope you like....

whell thats that for now. ill put up some more drawings of houses and stuff next blog. like i promised last time...

[Week 11] ANIMATION PROJECT - PRE PROD STUFF!

so ive just dusted off the cobewbs of my shitty blog and thought i should put some stuff up on here. hoorah!
hrmm ill make this short and sweet to prevent my verbal diahorrea boring everyone to sleep.
so here's what ive been up to... [for my group work for ze animation project]
CHARACTER DESIGNS

russel

HOUSES
i thought id have a bash at drawing or extending on pauls original houses ideas... they were a little lavish and elaborate for surry hills. but i shall show u all anyhoos.

[an idea for the little government owned houses + a sketch of pauls pops car]

so, surry hills is a part of town for the low socioeconomic family [it was in the 1930s and it still seems to be that way now] heres some picatures i found of it nowadays...

[image found at http://ninglunbooks.wordpress.com/about/this-blog-comes-to-you-from-surry-hills/ it has interesting info about people growing up in surry hills and discussion about the slums in the area etc]

this one above is of surryhills today. they almost look like something fresh out of england. osh-by-gosh!

this is something from the city streets of england. just some food for thought whilst drawing.

this is a picture that came up when i typed in 1900 house. quite old and run down. lovely.

and of course some of the older looking buildings. this is a busy street in redfern, not so far away from surry hills.
here are some good old reference pages i saved on a word doc. got lots of old shots of sydney and such...
www.brushtail.com.au/ost_v0606/redfern_1909.html
www.migrationheritage.nsw.gov.au/.../1918.shtml
www.liswa.wa.gov.au/images/010003P.html

these are some drawings i found to get my drawing tactics from. just for the first draft work.

i got some good feedback from amanda and paul, and am going to try and arrange so the houes look more cartooney. becoz obviously my drawings are too detailed and dont match the characters or settings of the oldschoolghettoslum look. so i thought if maybe something like this style, but not as extreme...

whell thats all for me for now. ill chuck my new stuff up in a jiffy!
